Feb 5, 2018 - Well that just figures, 2 months before Windows 10 is no longer a “free” upgrade, and Microsoft chooses to bomb the audio in every Thinkpad.
Hello all, I have issues with my audio card on my Windows 7 professional x64 system. Cannot play any sound or record with the built in microphone. The root cause of the problem I assume is caused by Windows cannot find the device, or some service is inactive? If I press 'SmartAudio' in the control panel, a message 'A Conexant audio device could not be found. This application will now exit.'
Have tried to update to latest drivers availabe from lenovo support page, '83a120ww' Version 8.32.44.0 Know for sure that there is not a problem with the sound card, since I've tried a fresh install of Windows with 'generic' drivers which did work. But not in my present installation. Since I don't know what information is required to help me fault trace this issue, did some snapshots and uploaded on the following link: Thanks for any help, Regards Simon. Hi x220forMe, Lenovo SystemUpdate did resolve the unknow device (Card reader).
Regarding to the soundcart the update tool kind of igoners the Audio Driver, even though if I'm running an older version of Conexant driver, or Microsoft's driver dated from 2010. So still stuck on the Audio Issue. Btw, there isthe HWID HDAUDIO FUNC01&VEN14F1&DEV506E&SUBSYS17AA21CE&REV1000.
